Now hear this: The very first “State of the Industry” by Andy Kindler at Just For Laughs Montreal in 1996

For years now, we’ve been sharing notes, transcripts and more recently full audio recordings of Andy Kindler’s annual State of the Industry Address that he delivers at Montreal’s Just For Laughs Comedy Festival.

It has become one of the must-see, must-listen moments each July at comedy’s largest confab.

What will Kindler have to say about show business and comedy this year? Comedy fans, comedians, agents, managers, bookers, producers and execs all want to know.

Ever wonder what it must have been like in the room that first year, though? Wonder no more!

Comedy Dynamics Records announced it will be releasing Andy Kindler: State of the Industry Address (Just For Laughs 1996) on iTunes, Apple Music, Google Play, Spotify and all digital audio retailers on Feb. 17, 2017. “This year will be my 11th time seeing Andy’s State of the Industry Address live at Just For Laughs, and I can’t wait!” said Brian Volk-Weiss, CEO of The Nacelle Company, which owns Comedy Dynamics.

“I’m so excited about the release of my first ‘State of the Industry’ speech that I forget things didn’t work out for me success-wise. I look forward to my grievances and feuds from the 90’s reaching a larger audience,” Kindler said.

You currently can hear Kindler’s voice on FOX’s Bob’s Burgers and see him on Comedy Central’s Tosh.0. His previous credits include recurring on The Late Show with David Letterman, Everybody Loves Raymond, Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place, and IFC’s Maron; judging the seventh season of NBC’s Last Comic Standing; starring in two separate half-hours of Comedy Central Presents, and hosting Coming to the Stage for Comedy Dynamics.
