Barstool Sports to bring live Super Bowl preview coverage to Comedy Central

When you want live sports coverage previewing the Super Bowl, you think Comedy Central, right?

You do now. Comedy Central is going into business with the fellas at Barstool Sports, announcing a limited four-night run of live half-hour specials, broadcast from a sports bar in Houston in the run-up to Super Bowl LI. The Barstool Rundown: Live From Houston, will air live at midnight Eastern starting Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, with episodes through Thursday.

“Some of my best life decisions have been made while sitting on a barstool,” said Comedy Central President Kent Alterman. “I’m hoping this is one of them.”

“We created the Rundown in 2013 to bring to life the biggest topics from the blog,” said Dave Portnoy, Founder of Barstool Sports. “We’ve filmed it most everywhere – our apartments, Barstool’s original office in Milton, MA, on the Golden Gate Bridge, in the back of my 1980 Bronco. We’re excited to bring Barstool, our crowd and the Rundown to Comedy Central live from Houston.”

Portnoy (El Pres), Kevin Clancy (KFC) and Dan Katz’s (Big Cat) will give their real and unfiltered take on the day’s top stories in sports, news and entertainment in the four half-hour broadcasts.

As they hustled to make this video announcement, they proclaimed on their site, via El Presidente:

Well Superbowl week is shaping up as a kinda of a big week for Barstool huh? The Pats are going to win their 5th Lombardi Trophy. Barstool has not 1 but 2 houses in Houston. And oh yeah The Rundown is going to be live, not fake live, but real live on a little network called Comedy Central. Ever heard of it? #prayforeverybody

PS – I would put this as the #2 most important Emergency Press Conference in the history of Barstool behind the Chernin investment. Also I’m not quite sure how to keep up these announcements. I feel like every other week we are rocking the internet to it’s core. It’s like “dang…Barstool just stole my girlfriend….again.”
