by Gabriel Iglesias has released his sixth stand-up comedy special, and first for Netflix. It’s called Gabriel Iglesias: I’m Sorry For What I Said While I Was Hungry, and I reviewed it for my friends at Decider.

And he has become popular enough now that he’s the focus of celebrity death hoaxes, and he’s shared his stories with us for long enough now where his son, Frankie —long a fixture in his act— is graduating from high school. Iglesias wants Frankie to attend college, and imagines selling him on an exchange program with an African child who’d appreciate the American dream life. “I love my son very much, you guys. It’s just sometimes he doesn’t get the position he’s in. He doesn’t realize it, which is why I love it whenever he brings his friends over.”
This juxtaposition, the paradox of Iglesias having power over everyone but his son or his longtime love, that’s the source of much of his comedic strength. Iglesias finds himself arguing with one of Frankie’s friends over who’s the best superhero, or with his lady about completing household chores, but in the arena, he is a superhero. Fluffy. The audience proves him right with sustained applause and chants of “Fluffy” unprovoked. “Do you guys have any idea how hard it’s going to be to go home and take out the trash now?” he asked.
