TBS orders animated series, “Final Space,” set for launch in 2018

This just in.

TBS has ordered up a new animated comedy series, Final Space, created by Olan Rogers and produced by Conan O’Brien Conaco with New Form. It’ll launch in 2018.

Final Space revolves around an astronaut named Gary and his adorable, planet-destroying friend, Mooncake, as they embark on a quest to figure out where the entire universe ends.

“Olan pitched us Final Space voicing all the characters and dancing around the conference room,” said Thom Hinkle, senior vice president of original programming for TBS. “It was kind of like a comedic Moon – genuinely funny and oddly heartfelt. We bought it in the room. So did other networks. We’re glad he chose us. XO.”

Final Space represents a continuation of the rebranding for TBS under network president Kevin Reilly. This year alone, TBS also has debuted Angie Tribeca, The Detour, Wrecked, People of Earth, Search Party and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.

TBS already airs new episodes of the animated hit, American Dad!, now in its 12th season, and has the animated Tarantula set in a hotel coming in 2017.

Here’s a first look at Final Space:
