Comedy Central renews Kevin Hart’s “Hart of the City” for second season

Before the first season wraps up this Sunday night, Comedy Central has announced a second-season renewal for Kevin Hart’s stand-up showcase series, Hart of the City.

“Stand-up comedy doesn’t just belong to New York and LA —‘Hart of the City’ is about shining a light on some of the most talented, hardworking comedians in the game, hailing from cities you don’t normally see on TV,” said Hart. “In season two, we’re covering even more ground to give fans a taste of the local flavor in comedy scenes across the country.”

“We are pushing Kevin to develop a stronger work ethic,” said Comedy Central president Kent Alterman.

Currently airing on Sundays at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT, “Hart of the City” follows Kevin Hart through each destination as he seeks out the freshest and finest voices in the local stand-up scene and investigates the nuances that make it unique. Each episode features stand-up sets from a different group of local comedians with interstitial segments featuring Hart and those comedians discussing the comedy climate in their city. The first season visits Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, Sacramento, Miami, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Birmingham. Harry Ratchford is Co-Producer and Jonas Larsen and JoAnn Grigioni are the Executives in Charge for Comedy Central.

One of Comedy Central’s other showcase series, The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail, just ended its run. The networks other series that showcase stand-ups include Adam Devine’s House Party, This is Not Happening hosted by Ari Shaffir, and Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle.

Here’s the teaser for the finale episode this Sunday from Birmingham, Ala.
