TBS renews Full Frontal with Samantha Bee through 2017, moves show to Wednesday nights

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee has been renewed for a second season starting in 2017. TBS announced the renewal today, along with a new timeslot — Bee’s weekly satire series will move from Monday nights to Wednesdays, still at 10:30 p.m. Eastern/Pacific, starting Jan. 11, 2017.

“I am only sorry that this renewal leaves me unavailable for a cabinet position in the new administration,” Bee said. “I will, however, be available to host the White House Correspondents Dinner, seeing as I already bought the dress.”

As I wrote back in April, Bee has set herself apart from the late-night comedy pack not only because she’s a woman (nor even because she gets a half-hour headstart on them), but because of her passion. “From standing front and center to face her audience instead of sitting behind a desk, to standing up for women and for news stories nobody else is talking about, Bee and her show runner Jo Miller know their voice and definitely know how to use it on Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.

“Of course we’re picking up the show,” said Thom Hinkle, senior vice president of original programming for TBS. “In less than a year, Sam has become one of the most talked-about personalities in all of television and Full Frontal‘s audience continues to grow. We’re so lucky to have Sam and her Emmy-nominated team, led by the brilliant Jo Miller, as part of the TBS family. Xoxoxoxo.”

TBS notes that the series reaches an average of 3.3 million viewers weekly (measured across multiple platforms), and ranks as one of the top 3 late-night TV shows in the most recent quarter, measured by adults aged 18-49. That demo’s viewership has surged by 37 percent in the third quarter of 2016.

Trump fans aren’t hers, though. Surprise, surprise. Here’s Bee’s announcement about that and her renewal!

And here are clips from this week’s episode. Enjoy!
