John Oliver offers mea culpa on Trump, says F— 2016! in explosive finale to season three of HBO’s Last Week Tonight

The third season of HBO’s Emmy-winning Last Week Tonight with John Oliver ended not with a whimper, but with a bang.

After a penultimate episode just two days before the election, in which Oliver dug up his own Comedy Central archives to find reasons why he needed to apologize in the first place for repeatedly encouraging and egging Donald Trump on to run for president, Oliver followed that up in his final Sunday episode of 2016 with both a look at what happens now and what needs to happen now in America and the world.

Oh, and also, fuck 2016.

What a horrible year for so many of us.

The famous and not-so-famous agree.

Oliver set off a fiery explosion of the numerals for 2016 inside a soccer/football stadium.

We still have six weeks before 2017, but it cannot come fast enough.
