Robert De Niro on playing an aging comedian in The Comedian

Robert De Niro stopped by Wednesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, and although De Niro made a video last month vowing to punch Donald Trump in the face and hosted what turned into a somber Election Night viewing party, he also was there to promote his newest movie, The Comedian.

Directed by Taylor Hackford, The Comedian stars De Niro as an aging stand-up who once was a famous insult comic with a TV series, who looks to make one last comeback to the stage. Here’s a clip from the film, plus De Niro telling Kimmel about how Jessica Kirson and Lewis Friedman helped him prepare for the role, and which comedians De Niro admires. Sorry, Jeff Ross.
