Comedy Central orders up Roast Battle II, and here are your prelim matchups

Roast Battle was such a smashing success for Comedy Central this July, they’re not waiting until next year to get started on a sequel.

In fact, the preliminary regional matchups for Roast Battle II already are set, taking place over the coming weeks in Atlanta, New York City, Denver and Los Angeles.

Led once again by Jeff Ross and referee Brian Moses, Roast Battle II’s “Main Event” pitting the top 16 finishers will take place over four nights in Los Angeles in January 2017, airing in three parts on Comedy Central over Jan. 26-28, with the finals airing live, same-day, on Jan. 29.

“Roast Battle is a movement. The fans love it and the comics love doing it. I wish all the world’s problems could be settled this way,” said Ross. “I’m grateful to Comedy Central for having the balls to air it live.”

“We will never live up to the epic Roast Battle-level of this presidential campaign, but we will do our best,” said Comedy Central’s Kent Alterman.

The celebrity judges will be named later, but we already know who’ll face off in the regional rounds this week and next. Each of these shows will be filmed, with highlights airing weekly in January to lead up to the Not-So-Sweet Sixteen.
