Stephen Colbert will broadcast live before, during and after the 2016 elections, on CBS and/or Showtime

As Election Day 2016 draws even nearer, Stephen Colbert wants to make sure his jokes are the most topical of all — so Colbert will broadcast live editions of The Late Show on CBS on both the night before and the night after the election, in addition to a live hour of coverage on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, for Showtime.

Because, of course, CBS News will pre-empt all of its entertainment programming on Election Night.

All three nights, you’ll find Colbert broadcasting live from the Ed Sullivan Theatre in New York City.

On Monday, Nov. 7, Stephen Colbert will be joined by Don Cheadle, Katherine Waterston and musical guest Drive-By Truckers. On Wednesday, Nov. 9, Colbert welcomes Miles Teller, Neil deGrasse Tyson and Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog. Both of these editions of The Late Show will broadcast live at 11:35 p.m. Eastern/10:35 p.m. Central (tape-delayed for the West).

On Election Night Tuesday, Colbert will anchor an hour of live coverage on Showtime. That’ll be called, Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going To Clean Up This Sh*t?

Description? Sure! “Speaking to an eclectic group of guests, Colbert will deliver a bleep-free night of comedy on premium cable, allowing him to say things he’s never been able to say in this campaign, such as directly quote a candidate. Airing live from The Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City with a studio audience, the one-hour program will also feature remote segments and several surprise guests, and will reveal who won the presidency.”

Here’s a trailer. Roll it, Jimmy!
