Larry David bringing a ninth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm to HBO

Forget the pretty. Forget the good. This is great news.

After a five-year hiatus, Larry David will return to his semi-autobiographical, semi-scripted life as “Larry David” on HBO for a ninth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Casey Bloys, HBO programming president, made the announcement today: “We’re thrilled that Larry has decided to do a new season of CURB and can’t wait to see what he has planned.”

Added David, in the HBO press release: “In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, ‘I left, I did nothing, I returned.’”

Well, not exactly.

David co-wrote and starred in an HBO movie in 2013, Clear History, wrote and starred in a Broadway play, last year’s “Fish in the Dark,” and made multiple appearances over the past season of Saturday Night Live impersonating U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

No word on when we can expect Curb to return, but it may be too soon to think it’ll air before 2017.
