Variety’s 10 Comics to Watch for 2016

Variety has announced its annual “10 Comics to Watch” list for 2016, almost two months before they’ll be feted at the end of July at Montreal’s Just For Laughs festival.

Without further ado, congratulations to…

  • James Adomian and Anthony Atamaniuk for their “Trump vs. Bernie” mock debate tour and specials for Fusion
  • Vlad Caamano, a recent New Face who frontedĀ a sitcom pilot this seasonĀ for NBC
  • Ronny Chieng, a correspondent for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah
  • Jermaine Fowler, former star of truTV’s Friends of the People whose own sitcom pilot for CBS, Superior Donuts, is getting reshot for possible midseason pickup. He’ll also appear in an episode of HBO’s Crashing starring Pete Holmes.
  • Lauren Lapkus, who starred in her own half-hour for Netflix’s The Characters and appeared in a key supporting role in last year’s Jurassic World
  • Aparna Nancherla, former staff writer for Late Night with Seth Meyers and Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell
  • Lilly Singh, YouTube star aka Superwoman, who starred in her own concert film documentary for YouTube, A Trip To Unicorn Island
  • Granger Smith, a star under his country music alter-ego Earl Dibbles, Jr.
  • Roy Wood Jr., breakout star correspondent on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah
