Episode #88: Liam McEneaney (live at QED)

Hey, it’s Liam McEneaney! Liam is a Queens native who turned his weekly comedy showcase in a Lower East Side bar basement into a concert film, Tell Your Friends!, that premiered at SXSW and also played at Montreal’s Just For Laughs festival and Comic-Con. His own credits include VH1’s Best Week Ever, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, and the Showtime special, Caroline Rhea and Friends. He also hosts a new podcast called Top 3 with Liam, Frank, Kevin and Cat. His second stand-up comedy album, Working Class Fancy, comes out in May.

If you’re in NYC on May 24, 2016, you can celebrate the release of it with him at Housing Works Bookstore with free performances by Josh Comers, Frank Conniff, Ritch Duncan, Emily Flake, Carla Rhodes, and Eden & John’s East River String Band.

But today marks Liam’s 20th anniversary of starting comedy. A perfect time to reflect. He talks to me about crank calling and The Jerky Boys, what it was like working with and for Greg Giraldo, and his own career’s journey. This episode was recorded live at QED in Astoria, with a bonus live rendition of the podcast’s theme song by Camille Harris and Shockwave.

So let’s get to it!
