Watch Jon Daly and Adam Scott play The Adult Swim Golf Classic

You could watch golfer Adam Scott try to mount a furious fourth-round rally at The Masters in Augusta, Ga., today.

Or you could watch the actor Adam Scott try to hold off the comedian Jon Daly portraying the golfer John Daly in their new half-hour special, The Adult Swim Golf Classic. It debuted late-night Friday.

The little touches make this truly special, though. From setting it in 1966, which allows them a different look, feel and attitude. To having the Golf Channel’s Gary Williams and Eddie Merrins provide the on-course commentary. To the comedic actors Daly and Scott legitimately playing, and not so well. To the subtle moments of absurd hilarity. All of it played straight.

Their charity back nine at the Trump National Golf Course at Rancho Palos Verdes in California at least donated $10,000 to St. Jude’s and $5,000 to Save the Children, though, right?

And it provided us with these 23-plus minutes of amusingly bad golf. Perhaps the most worthwhile golf viewing on television.

UPDATE (April 18, 2016): Over the weekend, Adult Swim released an extended version of The Adult Swim Golf Classic that’s an hour and 40 minutes. As a golfer from a family of golfers, it’s amazing to watch the full production knowing how they played it straight — even when their shots shanked and topped and dribbled. Daly and Scott maintain character, and so do the actual golf commentators, and it’s amazing. As Daly mentioned to fans on Saturday: “ADULT SWIM GOLF CLASSIC: EXTENDED VERSION IS 1:40 minutes. 9 Holes. 9000 cajoles. It’s 20 minutes shorter than “CHAPPIE” and 31 minutes shorter than “BATTLESHIP”. It’s time that you watched it.”

Yes. It’s time you watched it.
