“Hannibal Takes Edinburgh” documentary coming to Netflix

Netflix has acquired and will release Hannibal Takes Edinburgh, a feature-length documentary film featuring comedian Hannibal Buress, with a global premiere on Friday!

From the Netflix announcement:

Filmed over the course of 28 days in August 2013,  Hannibal Takes Edinburgh follows Buress as the then up-and-coming comedian performed nightly to packed houses at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the largest art and comedy festival in the world. The film blends extended moments from Buress’ pin-sharp observational stand-up with scenes of the comedian waxing philosophic on building his comedy routine, life on the road for a comedian and immersing himself in the Scottish culture.

UPDATE: Buress said on Twitter that the filming took place during his 2012 run at the Ed Fringe (although he did perform there in 2013, as well as in 2011 — when he was a finalist for the fest’s Best Newcomer award).

Buress just premiered his third hour of stand-up, Comedy Camisado, on Netflix in February.

He also currently co-stars on Comedy Central’s Broad City, and will appear in the upcoming big-screen sequel to Neighbors.

Ryan Ferguson directed Hannibal Takes Edinburgh, with production by Bird Gang Bang Birds and Apatow Productions. Hannibal Buress and Judd Apatow are the executive producers. Ferguson previously directed A Week to Kill, a behind-the-scenes documentary with Buress in the making of his special, Animal Furnace.
