SiriusXM tributes Bill Hicks on April Fool’s Day 2016 on Comedy Greats channel

This April Fool’s Day, spend the afternoon listening to the late great Bill Hicks telling us all what fools we were, and still are.

SiriusXM will be the first to premiere the uncut version of Hicks’ influential album Rant In E- Minor on SiriusXM’s Comedy Greats channel, preceded by the satellite radio’s exclusive audio documentary about Hicks and the album.

The actual show — recorded on Oct. 24, 1993 — hasn’t been heard in its entirety since then.

Hicks died in 1994, and Rant In E-Minor: Variations was released posthumously three years later as an edited version with music separating comedy bits.

“Bill Hicks is one of the most important comedic voices of our generation, and his jokes and indictments seem as relevant and important today as they ever did,” said Jack Vaughn, Senior Vice President, Comedy Programming, SiriusXM. “We’re really excited to be able to have our listeners be the first to hear this amazing uncut show.”

Starting at 3 p.m. Eastern on Friday, SiriusXM’s Comedy Greats (channel 94) will air Bill Hicks: A Life In Comedy, a documentary hosted by Ron Bennington and featuring interviews with Dave Attell, Judah Friedlander, Bob Saget, Barry Crimmins, Tom Rhodes, Ron White, Paul Provenza and Margaret Cho; followed by the world premiere of the uncut version of Rant In E-Minor: Variations.
