Comedy Central announces slew of renewals, extensions for series into 2016

Comedy Central officially announced renewals or episode extensions for much of its current programming slate, just two days ahead of its annual Upfronts presentation to advertisers.

Rookie sensation Not Safe with Nikki Glaser (reviewed here) receives 10 additional episodes, extending its first season through the summer. Originally the first season was going to end in April to coincide with Glaser’s first hour stand-up special on the network. Now it’ll return in June for 10 more weeks.

Comedy Central also granted a third and final season to the hilarious Review starring Andy Daly as the reviewer-of-life Forrest MacNeil, a third season to Ari Shaffir’s late-night storytelling showcase This Is Not Happening, a fourth season to Drunk History, and a ninth season to Tosh.0. On the digital side, the network also is renewing webseries for Alternatino (starring Broad City’s Arturo Castro), Nothin’s Easy featuring David Angelo, and Questionable Science from Rich Fulcher.

They join the following new and returning series already on the Comedy Central schedule for later in 2016 and into 2017:

  • Broad City seasons four and five
  • Inside Amy Schumer season five (season four debuts April 21)
  • South Park seasons 20-23
  • Workaholics seasons six and seven
  • Time Traveling Bong – special-event, three-night series premieres April 20 (more info)
  • Another Period – season two debuts June 15
  • The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail — season three forthcoming
  • Nathan For You — season four forthcoming

Adam Devine’s House Party currently is airing its third season.

Idiotsitter, not mentioned today, aired its first-season finale earlier this month. Also left behind: Why? with Hannibal Buress and Big Time in Hollywood, FL., plus animated series TripTank and Moonbeam City.
