Kevin Hart to pen memoir, “From the Hart

If Kevin Hart can earn $2 million just to type 140 characters into Twitter, then what could he pull in for writing 140 pages about himself?

No terms disclosed, but 37 Ink — an imprint of Atria Publishing Group — announced Tuesday that it had acquired the rights to Hart’s forthcoming memoir, to be titled, “From the Hart.”

“My kids know I’m a big deal. They’re very aware. I let them know every day, I say, ‘Look, daddy’s a big deal,’” Hart said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “Now I’ll have a book out to prove it.”

The book will go into much more detail about Hart’s childhood in Philadelphia, his father, and his early struggles in stand-up comedy. All of which you saw him document in part in his breakthrough stand-up comedy movie/documentary of 2011, Laugh at My Pain.

Hart is part of a massive wave of memoirs over the past few years from stand-up comedians; new autobiographies are on the way this year from Amy Schumer (who earned a reported $8 million for her “The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo”) and Tig Notaro (“I’m Just a Person”).

37 Ink’s Dawn Davis said: “I’ve been watching Kevin’s star rise ever since he stole the show in Think Like a Man. He not only has a comedic sensibility that is perfectly pitched for our time, he has a bounty of stories from his life that are wise, funny, and entertaining.”

Hart’s book is due Father’s Day 2017.
