Comedian Quincy Jones appears on Ellen, tells DeGeneres about trying to stay alive and beat cancer

Quincy Jones, the comedian, appeared on Ellen and talked with Ellen DeGeneres about finding out he has incurable mesothelioma in August 2015 with a diagnosis of about a year left to live.

“I don’t accept it,” Jones said.

Jones told DeGeneres he’s doing yoga, eating healthy and undergoing chemotherapy every three weeks.

“First of all, your attitude is amazing,” DeGeneres told him. “For you to have that in your head that someone says you have six more months to live, you seem healthy, and I think — you know, they say laughter is the best medicine, and you make everybody laugh, and you’re hilarious. So I want to make sure you shoot this special. I want to make sure you leave that legacy as well. And I’m appealing to everybody to donate more money to help him raise the money to shoot the special.”

Which is scheduled to happen April 4, 2016, at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles.

“But what I want also, if someone from HBO is watching or somebody from Netflix is watching, this guy is hilarious,” DeGeneres said. “Why don’t you air it on HBO? Why don’t you put it on Netflix? You know? Somebody.”

The Comic’s Comic first told you about Jones on Feb. 22His friends launched a Kickstarter in late February and have raised $43,000 at this writing. Their goal was $4,985 to cover the cost of producing and filming a stand-up comedy special for Jones. The excess funds will help Jones fight his cancer.

DeGeneres and Shutterfly also presented Jones with a check for $10,000 on the show.
