Episode #68: Clare O’Kane

Lance Bangs said talking to Clare O’Kane now is like catching Janeane Garofalo circa 1991. O’Kane started stand-up comedy in the San Francisco Bay Area, then moved to Los Angeles and fell into a house with other comedians. Which is how she stars in the new Viceland cable channel showcasing stand-up comedy houses called Flophouse. O’Kane also has written for Spongebob Squarepants and for VICE, and she has performed in festivals from Bridgetown to Edinburgh. She shares with me the surprising relevance of headshots, and how her mother’s death may have prompted her to change careers and dive into comedy.

So let’s get to it!
