WWE Hall of Fame wrestler “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan launches 2×4 stand-up comedy tour

Hacksaw Jim Duggan is the latest greatest hall of fame wrestler from the ranks of the WWE to trade the ring for the stage as a stand-up comedian.

Duggan starts his “The 2×4 Tour” in his hometown of Glens Falls, NY, on Tuesday, with stops planned the next couple of weeks at comedy clubs throughout New York and Massachusetts. He’ll also hit up Pennsylvania and Ontario in March and April, and his HacksawShow.com notes he’s “accepting tour dates right now” for more cities this winter and spring.

Mick Foley went on tour in 2011 after playing with improvisers and honing his storytelling and stand-up skills. The Iron Sheik and the late Rowdy Roddy Piper also have performed stand-up at The Comedy Store in West Hollywood and entertained comedy roasters over the years.

For Duggan’s part, he intends to put on a one-man show that’s part stand-up, part storytelling and part Q&A with his fans. His site promises: “This hour-long show is a wrestling fan’s dream; an up-close, intimate experience with an iconic sports celebrity! Hacksaw’s sense of humor & storytelling ability create a show jam-packed with action. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at the crazy life of WWF superstar and the underbelly of professional wrestling as a whole.”
