Episode #41: Jermaine Fowler

Today’s guest is Jermaine Fowler, who was supposed to get his big break in 2012 as part of a much-ballyhooed reboot of FOX’s seminal sketch comedy series, In Living Color. But Fowler and the new comedy friends he made there made the most of their experience, regrouping and eventually succeeding as Friends of the People for two seasons on truTV. Fowler’s now working on a new deal with CBS that includes developing a sitcom based on his life and a stand-up special, his first, which debuts this December on Showtime. It’s called Give ‘Em Hell Kid, and Jermaine talked to me about it, his troublemaking ways, the lengths he went to pursue his comedy dreams, and what it’s like to have Whoopi Goldberg as your TV grandmother.

So let’s get to it!
