Episode #40: Wayne Federman

Today’s guest, Wayne Federman, has been recording stand-up comedy sets in clubs across America for more than 30 years now since starting out in New York City in the early 1980s. He’s also a classically trained actor, studying in college straight from Stella Adler. No wonder, then, he has so many TV and film credits that he’s instantly recognizable even if you don’t know which credit to cite first. Among them, playing Wayne Federman on The X-Files, dueling with Curb Your Enthusiam‘s Larry David and most recently gambling with Kenny Rogers in a long-running TV commercial. But he tried breaking through first as a teen ventriloquist, then a electric ukulele act. We talk about that, his years helping launch Jimmy Fallon back into late-night stardom and his own new three-disc set of greatest hits, The Chronicles of Federman – Wayne Federman.

I spoke with Federman after his guest Larry Wilmore screened 1974’s The Parallax View as the latest installment of his Wayne Federman International Film Festival. Conspiracy theorists take note.

So let’s get to it!
