Episode #31: Phil Rosenthal

Today’s guest is Phil Rosenthal.

Everybody Loves Raymond, but we’re still getting to know Phil, the hit sitcom’s co-creator who is leading us around the world thanks to his new food and travel show on PBS, I’ll Have What Phil’s Having. His first season took us to Tokyo, Italy, Paris, Hong Kong and Barcelona, all the while Skyping home with his parents — and wraps up tonight (Nov. 2, 2015) in Los Angeles with cameos from Martin Short, Allison Janney and Ray Romano. Phil spoke with me about his lack of travel as a kid, the crazy jobs he had to take when acting didn’t take off, the influence of his childhood friend Alan Kirschenbaum, and how he learned from great showrunners how to run one himself. So let’s get to it!
