FX picks up Donald Glover’s “Atlanta” to series for 2016

Childish Gambino and Community fans rejoice, as Donald Glover will return to TV in 2016 in a new role he created as a young rapper in Atlanta. Speaking of which… FX has ordered 10 half-hour episodes of Atlanta. “Atlanta draws on Donald’s considerable talents as a musician, actor and writer to give us something unique,” said Nick Grad, FX Networks original programming president. “The story is made all the more powerful by the great cast and the contributions of Donald’s fellow Executive Producer Paul Simms and director Hiro Murai. NBCUniversal launching own comedy video subscription service: Seeso TV

NBCUniversal has announced the launch of Seeso, the company’s own comedy video subscription service online that’ll offer ad-free streaming sitcoms (both classic and new original series) for $3.99/month. It’s in beta now. Seeso is headed by Evan Shapiro, who previously helmed Pivot TV and before that, IFC TV and Sundance Channel.
