Hollywood isn’t the only place that recycles good ideas and is up for a reboot. Now it’s Turner Broadcasting in Atlanta that’s taking a good hard second look at Super Deluxe, the website that launched dozens of great funny webseries and one-offs in 2007 and 2008.
The actual site for superdeluxe.com is even more of a tease for now.
But Variety has reported that sources tell it Turner is hiring again for the site, and that Wolfgang Hammer and Winnie Kemp (both former execs at CBS) are heading it up. And Turner’s TBS and TNT are led now by Kevin Reilly, who wasn’t there during the first launch of Super Deluxe, and helped his former employers at FOX with talent incubation via ADHD. Which, in turn, provided another online and TV outlet for Neely’s “China, IL.”
From 2007-2008, Super Deluxe funded projects not only from Tim and Eric, Odenkirk, and Neely, but also Maria Bamford, Dave Foley, Dave Hill, Louis Katz, Eugene Mirman, Olde English, Jonah Ray, Nick Swardson, Eric Appel and Norm Macdonald.
Adult Swim has a big day of panels scheduled Friday at New York Comic-Con. Perhaps we may learn more there and then?
