Rob Schneider’s self-made sitcom “Real Rob” coming to Netflix December 2015

Real Rob — an eight-episode sitcom that Rob Schneider wrote, produced, starred in and financed himself essentially on spec — has found a home with Netflix.

The series will premiere on the streaming service Dec. 1, 2015. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to have our audience watch Real Rob on the best platform in the world — Netflix,” Schneider said.

Real Rob mines the same field tilled by Seinfeld and Louie, combining stand-up sets by Schneider with heightened versions of his offstage reality. Schneider co-wrote the episodes with Patricia Azarcoya, who plays his TV wife. Max Amini and Jamie Lissow co-star, with old pals Norm Macdonald, David Spade and George Lopez among those dropping in for guest-starring roles.

Schneider had shopped the series this summer at the MipTV conference in Cannes with Tricon Films and Television, which is the distributor to Netflix. Netflix already has a multi-picture exclusive deal with Schneider’s longtime SNL buddy Adam Sandler.
