Episode #15: Michelle Buteau

Here’s the buzz: Michelle Buteau spoke to me just as VH1 announced last week it’d canceled Big Morning Buzz, the live talk show she co-hosted with Nick Lachey for the past year.

But that’s no sweat off of her back. She decided to pursue her comedy career after working in TV news on 9/11. Yes. That 9/11. Don’t worry. I asked her about that, her father’s unique taste in music listening, catchphrases, comedy classes and more, including stories from performing alongside an already historically classic edition of “new faces” at the final HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen in 2007, and who made her go “panties off” while working on VH1.

Buteau’s first Comedy Central special debuts on The Half-Hour this weekend, as well as her first full-length stand-up album, “Shut Up!” available now via Comedy Central Records.

“She has as many catchphrases as she does freckles.” Who said it? Michelle Buteau said it!
