SAG-AFTRA issues “Do Not Work” order against duo of “reality” series filming comedians and their families

SAG-AFTRA has issued a “no-contract, no-work” order against L. Plummer Media, which is currently filming both Comedians of LA for Esquire and Living With Funny for the Oxygen Network simultaneously.

The actors’ union notes that the production is for “a single series, produced by a single company — L. Plummer Media — but for two different networks,” and neither has a “minimum basic agreement with SAG-AFTRA” yet. “Therefore, all SAG-AFTRA members are hereby informed that no member may accept work or appear as a guest on this program. Violating this order may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the SAG-AFTRA Constitution.”

L. Plummer Media has yet to respond publicly.

The African-American production company, based in Los Angeles, is owned by Lemuel Plummer, who co-created and executive produced the Preachers of series (L.A., Detroit, Atlanta) for Oxygen, as well as produced Mary Mary for WeTV and The Mo’nique Show or BET.

The only announced cast member for the dual projects so far: Brandon T. Jackson, who attended the formal announcement at Esquire and Oxygen’s Upfronts in March.

Will the stop-work order make it into the plotline for either series, though?
