FOX promotes Golan The Insatiable to primetime for summer 2015, recasts main voices

FOX has promoted Golan The Insatiable from its “Animation Domination High-Def” block to become a half-hour primetime series this summer, with the first of six episodes premiering Sunday, May 31, 2015, at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT.

As part of the promotion, the network also has recast the main voices, with Rob Riggle voicing Golan, the “mighty godlord from an alternate dimension who arrives in Oak Grove, Minn., where his only friend is a macabre, nine-year-old girl named Dylan,” voiced by Aubrey Plaza.

Those voices were originated by series creator Josh Miller and comedian Mary Mack, respectively.

You can hear them in the pilot teaser from November 2013:

Maria Bamford, Rachel Butera and Nick Rutherford will continue to provide voices as they’d done in the first six 15-minute episodes that aired on FOX in 2013-14, and repeat late-night Thursdays on FXX. The show also has added Ken Marino and John DiMaggio to the primetime half-hour cast.

Miller created Golan The Insatiable and developed it with Matt Silverstein and Dave Jeser. Nick Weidenfeld and Hend Baghdady (who lead FOX/FXX’s ADHD initiative) serve as executive producers, alongside Silverstein and Jeser, with Miller serving as co-executive producer. It’s produced by Weidenfeld’s Friends Night, in association with Double Hemm.

You also can catch up with first six episodes of Golan via Hulu.

  1. Why the hell did Fox recast Golan the Insatiable? ? In my opinion it ruined the show. Golan is nowhere near sarcastic enough and Dylan.. Jeezely Crow! She now sounds like MacKenzie B, her arch nemesis. Dammit. So disappointed, so wrong on so many levels. Way to go Fox. Screwed up again.
