TV Land’s “The Soul Man” kicks off season 4 with a live episode

The Soul Man on TV Land will go LIVE for its fourth-season premiere on March 18 with stars Cedric The Entertainer, Niecy Nash and Wesley Jonathan.

Roll the tease.

Sherri Shepherd will guest star in the live season premiere as Nikki, Boyce’s (Cedric) unruly cousin.

Live episodes have become a recurring gambit for TV Land. Popular sitcom Hot in Cleveland has gone live before, and last year’s season three premiere of The Soul Man also aired as it happened, with guest star Brandy going into labor.

The Soul Man follows R&B super-star-turned minister Reverend Boyce “The Voice” Ballentine after he relocated from Las Vegas to St. Louis with his wife Lolli. Season four debuts at 10:30 p.m. EDT/PDT March 18, 2015, on TV Land.
