by Comedy Central’s biennial special event all-star fundraiser, Night of Too Many Stars, returns on Sunday night with plenty of pre-taped stunts and a live telethon and celebrity phone bank — as always, hosted by The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart and organized by Robert Smigel.
You’ll see the likes of Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Louis C.K., Larry David, Jim Gaffigan, John Oliver, Amy Schumer, Martin Short, Larry Wilmore, Sarah Silverman, Bill Burr, Steve Buscemi, Andy Cohen, Ilana Glazer, Gilbert Gottfried, Abbi Jacobson, Maya Rudolph, Susan Sarandon and many more…and here’s one clip to tease it all. First, know that it all comes from a very personal place for Robert Smigel — whom you may know well as a writer for Saturday Night Live and Conan O’Brien and even better as the voice and hand inside Triumph the Insult Comic Dog (now co-starring in his own Adult Swim series, The Jack and Triumph Show). Smigel and his wife are raising an autistic child (now teenager), and Night of Too Many Stars has brought in more than $18 million since 2006 to support families with autism through community programs. 9. CHRIS ROCK SELLS OUT
I may have been paraphrasing, but when frequent event support and fashion kingpin Tommy Hilfiger made the highest bid to have Chris Rock advertise his products, he should have known what he was paying for. Actually, I think he specifically requested this pitch!

10. LOUIS CK TAKES A CURTAIN CALL
Actually, the comedian whisked one audience member down Broadway for his very own curtain call at the end of a live production of the play, “It’s Only a Play,” starring Matthew Broderick, Stockard Channing, Martin Short and F. Murray Abraham. The wait was worth it.

14. WHEEL OF RUDD
Somehow, someway, the most memorable moment from this year’s event didn’t require any auction bids at all?!? A few audience members plucked from the balcony took the stage and spun the Wheel of Rudd to inflict embarrassment and pain on the one and only Paul Rudd. Slaps to his face, eskimo kisses, a glimpse of his penis, and oh yeah, a guy from Queens fed Rudd like a baby bird (echoing a popular classic SNL sketch) with chewed-up pieces of Zabar’s chicken.
15. WHAT’s THAT NUMBER, AGAIN?
Maya Rudolph will sing the phone number until you remember it, in as many ways as it takes for you to remember it.
