by Scott Aukerman will lose his Comedy Bang! Bang! bandleader Reggie Watts when this fourth season of their IFC series ends, but this week’s couch guest is ready to take the musical comedy sidekick reins. Presenting Kid Cudi.
Cudi, who has worked with the likes of Jay-Z, Kanye West and Mary J. Blige, will join Aukerman full-time starting Friday, July 10, in the show’s regular 11 p.m. timeslot on IFC.
“I can’t wait to start this new chapter of Comedy Bang! Bang! with Kid Cudi,” said Scott Aukerman. “When he was on the couch, I knew he had charisma and star quality, but I thought he should move slightly camera right. Plus, my wife and I have been trying to have a kid for several years, and this is the next best thing.”

Watts will become the musical bandleader for The Late Late Show with James Corden on CBS on March 23, but still can be seen in this season’s first 20 episodes on IFC, leaving in a grand finale on June 5.
Kid Cudi’s has won two Grammys and sold 12.5 million digital singles to date. His fourth studio album, Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon, was released last February and the follow-up Man on the Moon III is forthcoming. He also has experience playing a comedy sidekick, as he’ll portray Ari Gold’s assistant, Allen, in the upcoming Entourage movie. His other screen credits include a turn on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and a regular role on HBO’s How to Make It in America.
Other guests preceding and following Cudi on the couch during this 40-episode fourth season include Ty Burrell, Mark Duplass, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Zach Galifianakis, former NFLer Eddie George, Simon Helberg, Maya Rudolph, Dax Shepard, Schoolboy Q, Jack Antonoff, Twin Shadow and Tears for Fears.
