Looks like Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones are gonna answer the call this summer!
Feig Tweeted a photo of the fearless foursome just minutes ago, and sources are confirming that they’re all deep in negotiations to become the 21st Century counterparts in an alternate timeline from when Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson first fought off the ghosts, slime and Stay Puft Marshmallow Man back in the summer of 1984.
Feig is directing the reboot, written by Dippold and produced by Reitman (whom directed and produced the original blockbuster).
Wiig and McCarthy starred in Feig’s more recent smash hit comedy, Bridesmaids; McCarthy also starred in Feig/Dippold’s The Heat; McKinnon and Jones, meanwhile, have followed Wiig’s footsteps as new stars on Saturday Night Live.
The Ghostbusters reboot and/or sequels had been long debated and rumored, but it now looks as as though it’s all happening this summer in New York City once SNL goes on its annual break.
