Jenny Slate wins Critics’ Choice Award for Best Actress in a Comedy for “Obvious Child”

Congrats to Jenny Slate, who won the Critics’ Choice Awards prize last night for Best Actress in a Comedy for her performance in Obvious Child, where she played a stand-up comedian who has to decide what to do after an unplanned pregnancy.

Slate’s acceptance speech is great. Even though she wrote something down to be prepared (thanks, Ron Slate!) she was willing and able to speak off the cuff, too. Total pro. “Activism and creative expression can go together,” Slate said. “See you in the future!”

Speaking of which, Slate’s performance in Obvious Child also has her still in the running for honors at the Independent Spirit Awards as Female Lead, which we’ll find out about on Feb. 21, 2015.

Meanwhile, check out her Critics’ Choice Awards acceptance speech. Roll the clip!
