57th annual Grammy Awards nominations in comedy, spoken word

The Grammy Awards rolled out their nominations throughout the day on Twitter, but once they did, looks like they found some great picks out of the hundreds of stand-up comedy CDs released during the past eligibility period (which differs from the calendar year, remember).

As you can see, in comedy, your 57th annual Grammy Awards nominees are:

Mandatory Fun, by Weird Al Yankovic (RCA Records)

Obsessed, by Jim Gaffigan (Comedy Central Records)

Oh My God, by Louis C.K. (Vagrant Records)

Tragedy Plus Comedy Equals Time, by Patton Oswalt (Comedy Central Records)

We Are Miracles, by Sarah Silverman (Sub Pop Records)

The Grammys also gave the late Joan Rivers a posthumous nomination in spoken word, for using the voice she didn’t need to fix to read her last book, “Diary of a Mad Diva.” She’s up against James Franco, former President Jimmy Carter, John Waters, Elizabeth Warren and Gloria Gaynor.
