ABC cancels “Manhattan Love Story”

At least one of the three rom-com sitcoms that bowed on network TV this September will not have a happy ending, nor even a Merry Christmas.

ABC cancelled Manhattan Love Story over the weekend.

The single-cam starred Analeigh Tipton and Jake McDorman as lead couple Dana and Peter, whose inner thoughts and monologues are heard throughout episodes in voiceover. Jade Catta-Preta and Nicolas Wright starred as their friends and other couple. Kurt Fuller and Chloe Wepper also co-starred.

Airing at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT Tuesdays on ABC, Manhattan Love Story drew an initial rating of 1.3 among adults 18-49 when it debuted Sept. 30, dropping to 0.9 for two weeks, then down to 0.7 for last week’s fourth episode.

ABC had ordered more scripts for the sitcom last week, but changed its mind and has decided to scrap airings for all future episodes.

The Great Christmas Light Fight special already was scheduled to pre-empt Manhattan Love Story this Tuesday. Starting Nov. 4, ABC will air back-to-back episodes of Selfie in the hour instead.
