The performance art of TJ Miller’s morning TV news appearances

Working the road as a stand-up comedian often entails early-morning promotions the day of or before your weekend club and theater appearances, both on local radio and TV stations.

It can be fun. It can be terrible. It can be terribly fun.

Especially if you want to take advantage of the situations, which almost always play out on live microphones and cameras.

Before his appearance on Tuesday’s Conan, Conan O’Brien and the crew played a montage of T.J. Miller‘s morning TV appearances to showcase just that. “I like to do morning shows,” Miller explained. “They can their own little pieces of performance art, if you really approach them from the right angle.” One of his techniques: The dribble take. Take that!
