Forget Ghostbusters 3. Think Ghostbusters reboot written by Paul Feig and Katie Dippold

The 30th anniversary of Ghostbusters brought with it a re-release over Labor Day weekend that earned $1.76 million at the box office.

And with it, more talk of a potential Ghostbusters 3.

Well, forget that, and think about this reality instead: Paul Feig re-teaming with Katie Dippold — he directed her screenplay of The Heat (which grossed $159 million last summer). Sony brought Feig onto the Ghostbusters team earlier this year after original franchise director Ivan Reitman dropped out this spring.

Feig expressed interest in ditching the threequel idea for a complete reboot.

And now he’s gotten Sony on board, hiring Dippold to write a new script with an all-female cast in mind to bust ghosts.

Let’s wish them luck.
