You’ll hear a lot in the trades and the trade winds from now through pilot season, which starts in earnest in January, all the way up to the cable Upfronts in the spring and the broadcast network Upfronts in May — when TV programmers present their new and returning lineups to impress and attract advertisers for 2015-2016. When a network orders a pilot to series, that’s newsworthy and vital information for you to know. Like FX yesterday greenlighting Baskets, starring Zach Galifianakis and coming from him, Louis C.K. and Jonathan Krisel; it’ll go into production in 2015 with a launch date...Read More

Saturday Night Live rebroadcasting “Vintage” SNL episodes at 10 p.m. Saturdays for 40th anniversary season 2014-2015
Last year, NBC doubled-up on Saturday Night Live by rebroadcasting the condensed version of recent repeat in the 10 p.m. (Eastern/Pacific) hour before new episodes of SNL at 11:30. This year, to celebrate SNL’s 40th anniversary season, the network instead will dig into the archives to rerun hour-long editions of classic episodes. It kicks off this Saturday (Sept. 27) with the Richard Pryor episode from the inaugural 1975-1976 season, which included musical guest Gil Scott-Heron and an all-time classic “word association” job interview sketch between Pryor and Chevy Chase. On Oct. 4, 2014, the 10 p.m. ET/PT hour on...Read More
Remember when CollegeHumor was just a website by college kids for college kids? Oh, the #TBT of it all. The kids of CollegeHumor may have grown up, expanded, moved into TV and film, but they’re still focused on making new, weird videos for people of all ages to enjoy. On that note, this week, they launched a new YouTube channel: CH2. “Some of the most popular series and characters throughout CollegeHumor’s history have originated from taking risks and trying new things,” said Sam Reich, President of Big Breakfast, who established the original video department at CollegeHumor in 2006 and...Read More
Did you know Jim Gaffigan tried out for the Indianapolis Colts this summer? Yeah, well. Not a spoiler alert, but Gaffigan did not make the 2014 Colts team, or even the practice squad. But he did eat some donuts, more doughnuts, exchanged words with Andrew Luck and said Pat McAfee smelled “like a canal.” So there’s that. Plus, watch to the end for a very special cameo. Roll the clip! Speaking of which… Gaffigan appeared on Wednesday night’s Late Show with David Letterman to promote his second book, “Food: A Love Story.” It comes out in October. Don’t expect...Read More
Tiny Detectives: Ellen Page and Kate Mara star in the #TrueDetectiveSeason2 we really want to see. Thanks, Funny or Die!
Perhaps you heard they cast a new dynamic duo to star in the second installment of HBO’s True Detective. Sure, Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn are no Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey. But who is? At any rate. I’d definitely tune in to multiple seasons of Tiny Detectives, the parody from Funny or Die that stars 5-foot-2 Kate Mara and 5-foot-1 Ellen Page. Roll the...Read More
