Mark Your Calendars: “George Carlin Way” street sign unveiling, party set for Oct. 22, 2014

The city of New York recently approved renaming the Morningside Heights street where George Carlin grew up as “George Carlin Way” in honor of the late stand-up comedian.

George Carlin Way already shows up on Google Maps.

And on Oct. 22, 2014, the physical signs will match the digital ones.

Kelly Carlin, George’s only child, will join comedian Kevin Bartini (who spearheaded the street naming effort) and others in an official dedication, party and whatnot. Scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. that Wednesday at the corner of West 121st Street and Amsterdam Avenue.

The Comic’s Comic will bring you more details as they become available.

UPDATED: The public unveiling ceremony at the 400 block of West 121ststreet between Morningside Drive and Amsterdam Avenue will officially be co-named “George Carlin Way.” Confirmed attendees include Colin Quinn and Keith Olbermann, along with Carlin’s daughter Kellyolder brother Patrick, and Bartini.
