John Mulaney’s new sitcom, Mulaney, is almost upon us. In New York City, billboards and subway ads are everywhere. FOX has put its promotional muscle behind Mulaney.
Now it’s up to you, the viewer.
To help you make up your mind, check out this special behind-the-scenes preview with clips from the sitcom, starring Mulaney as a fictionalized version of himself, working for a big TV star (Martin Short), living with fellow comics and artists (Seaton Smith, Nasim Pedrad) and friends young (Zack Pearlman) and old (Elliott Gould).
“It’s a scary thing, a new show. It’s especially scary when a new show is titledĀ Mulaney. Who the hell is Mulaney?”

This special preview includes lots of clips, plus interviews with Mulaney, Lorne Michaels and the cast. Mulaney says here that the series draws from his stand-up stories, as well as the idea of a young “whitebread” man coming to New York City, having roommates and working for a weird boss.
Or if you don’t have 22 minutes, try on this three-minute teaser for size. The 22-minute “Opening Act Preview Special” of Mulaney also is available as four — FOUR — separate videos on YouTube.
Mulaney debuts Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, on FOX.
