Hot off the heels of performing individually and collectively in Montreal’s Just For Laughs, the cast of Undateable received news late Thursday that NBC had picked up their summer series for 10 more episodes, with season two coming in 2015.
The sitcom seemingly burned through all its 13-epiosde debut season this June and July, with NBC choosing to air Undateable in back-to-back half-hour blocks on Thursday nights in front of Last Comic Standing.
But the ratings — premiering with a 1.3 in ages 18-49 — were higher than anyone at NBC anticipated, certainly for a summer show.
They also fared better than most everything NBC had been trying on Thursdays in the fall, winter and spring, in terms of sitcoms. Of course, that’s comparing seasons to seasons.
Executive producer Bill Lawrence and his cast — featuring stand-up comedians Chris D’Elia, Brent Morin, Ron Funches and Rick Glassman — broke the news themselves via Twitter on Thursday.
