Jim Gaffigan’s CBS sitcom gets 10-episode order at TV Land with Comedy Central partnership on “The Gaffigan Show”

Jim Gaffigan filmed two pilots in the past year-and-a-half for CBS, and two of Viacom’s sister cable companies have swooped in to pick Gaffigan’s semi-autobiographical sitcom up to series!

TV Land announced a 10-episode order tonight of The Gaffigan Show, created by Gaffigan and Peter Tolan, with episodes repeating one week later on Viacom sibling Comedy Central.

The Gaffigan Show is a single-cam starring Gaffigan as himself, a stand-up comedian, husband and father of five, trying to balance it all with his love of food. His best-selling book, “Dad Is Fat,” is being followed up this fall by another tome based on his stand-up, “Love: A Food Story.”

“I am thrilled that TV Land is giving us this opportunity to do this show that Peter, Jeannie and I have been fine-tuning for three years,” Gaffigan said. “I’m probably most excited about the craft service. I gained 20 pounds for this role. OK, fine. It was 40 pounds.”

Ashley Williams plays Jim’s wife in the series. Adam Goldberg and Michael Ian Black also co-star; Goldberg as Jim’s best-friend; Black as his wife’s friend.

The Gaffigan Show will film in NYC, where Gaffigan lives, and premiere on TV Land (then Comedy Central a week later) in 2015. Tolan, Gaffigan and Jeannie Gaffigan are executive producing, with Brillstein Entertainment Partners’ Alex Murray and Sandy Wernick and Michael Wimer of Fedora Entertainment. Seth Gordon (“The Goldbergs”) directed the pilot episode.

Episodes will air on Comedy Central within one week of the original air date on TV Land.

“We love Jim Gaffigan’s brand of humor. The second we saw this show we knew we wanted it on TV Land,” said Larry W. Jones, TV Land President. “The audience that TV Land is targeting is Gen Xers who are raising families so we love that this show reflects their world. Only funnier.”
