FXX orders “Man Seeking Woman,” starring Jay Baruchel, to series in 2015

Jay Baruchel is FXX’s newest leading man, starring in the upcoming Man Seeking Woman, ordered to a 10-episode season today by the cable network.

Coming in 2015, Man Seeking Woman stars Baruchel as Josh Greenberg, “a naive romantic on a desperate quest for love” — based on Simon Rich’s book of short stories, “The Last Girlfriend on Earth.” Simon also wrote the pilot.

Baruchel’s series regular co-stars will be Eric Andre, Britt Lower and Maya Erskine.

“Simon Rich has delivered a wholly original, hilarious and fantastical view of single life that features an incredible performance from Jay Baruchel,” said FX Networks exec Nick Grad. “We feel this is the perfect fit for FXX and are thrilled to pick up the show.”

“I’m incredibly grateful to Jon Krisel, Jay Baruchel and Broadway Video for bringing my book to life,” said Rich. “Most of all, I’m thankful to John Landgraf and his team at FXX, who believed in us from the start and gave us great advice at every turn.”

Jonathan Krisel (Kroll Show, Portlandia) directing. Rich will be Executive Producer/Showrunner, as Krisel, along with Andrew Singer and Lorne Michaels are Executive Producers on the series. Broadway Video will produce for FX Productions.

FXX is adding the new original half-hour comedy to its programming slate next year, after having dropped Legit earlier this year, losing Wilfred after this fourth and final season this summer, and forced to delay the untitled Tracy Morgan sitcom due to the tragic turnpike crash that critically injured the comedian and killed one of his writing partners last month.
