Bill Maher to perform live HBO stand-up special from D.C. immediately following live episode of “Real Time” on Sept. 12, 2014

New rule? Bill Maher will perform his next stand-up special live on HBO from Washington, D.C., immediately after hosting a live one-hour episode of his long-running HBO series Real Time with Bill Maher.

The back-to-back doubleheader happens Sept. 12, 2014, from Sidney Harman Hall, then moves over to Warner Theatre.

Real Time will air as a “special edition” episode in primetime at 9 p.m. Eastern (tape-delayed for the West Coast), followed at 10 p.m. with Bill Maher: Live, Without Interruption.

The special Real Time in D.C. episode will feature the conclusion of this season’s #FlipADistrict segment, in which Maher has narrowed down current Congressional representatives to 16 he wants his viewers to help him vote out of office. He’ll reveal which Congressional district he hopes to flip on the Sept. 12 episode. Here’s his most recent installment of “Flip a District” which aired last week.

For his solo stand-up performance — his 10th for HBO since 1989 — Maher will head down seven blocks from Sidney Harman Hall to Warner Theatre.

In 2012, Maher performed a special for Yahoo! that culminated in his donating $1 million toward President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign.
