Popcornflix offers new comedy channel

Are you ready for another free streaming comedy channel online? Ready or not, here’s PopcornflixTM.

It launched Popcornflix Comedy this week, with a corresponding mobile app that purports to offer free and only free comedy films and specials for your viewing pleasure.

The press release includes Trailer Park Boys, Super High Me, Mystery Science Theater 3000 and hundreds of other titles on the menu, including selections from the Troma line. So far online, though, there’s not quite so much to choose from, although there is an original stand-up showcase series to note called “Live at New York Comedy Club.” Up to six new episodes will be added to the Popcornflix Comedy lineup each month.

“We’re thrilled to launch our first original comedic series and to partner with some of the top clubs and comics in the city to help them reach a wider audience,” said Peter Kovacs, head of original content for Popcornflix, in making the announcement. “We’re already making plans to expand distribution of these great, laugh-out-loud productions to wider markets, and we’re always eager to acquire new series and movie titles for distribution across our fast-growing free movie viewing platform.”

Check it out and let me know what you think of it.
