Hasan Minhaj circles the Stand Up Planet and back in TV documentary

Eddie Izzard’s “Force Majeure” global tour kicked off the first of five nights in New York City on Tuesday, with Izzard performing in French, German, Spanish, gibberish and plenty of plain English over the course of two hours. Izzard has taken his stream-of-silly-consciousness stand-up act all over the world, and learned how to translate his jokes into multiple languages for all corners of the globe. There’s a great big planet out there. And yet, it is a small world, after all. It turns out that even India and South Africa love good poop jokes and dick jokes — it’s...

But, who’s this real guy walking around in the old-time uniform, talking about how “Baseball is Better”? They want you to think it’s Kenny Powers from HBO’s Eastbound and Down. And yet, it’s as if the ad campaign said, let’s get Kenny Fucking Powers to sell...

Kevin Hart’s Inside the NBA impersonations

Pardon me for not caring enough about the NBA Playoff this May to watch all of the early-round action, so it only recently came to my attention that Inside the NBA has gone and let Kevin Hart spoof them all on TNT/TBS all in the name of promoting Hart’s movie sequel. So here is Hart impersonating host Ernie Johnson and analysts Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Shaquille O’Neal. Kenny Smith decided to get back at Hart by poking at, what else, his size. You like? Shaq has a good sense of humor about such things. Sir Charles, you’d think he...

Late Night with Seth Meyers presents (SNL) Second Chance Theatre: “Jennjamin Franklin”

If at first your Saturday Night Live sketch does not succeed in making the cut for broadcast on NBC, try, try again. Or wait until you leave the show and your former colleague and head writer has his own platform — in which case, here’s Late Night with Seth Meyers presents Second Chance Theatre! On paper, it doesn’t seem like a great idea. You watch SNL. You probably already critique SNL, and think it used to be funny, or hasn’t been funny. So think about the sketches that even Lorne Michaels didn’t think were funny enough to compete with...
