Spike TV presents “One Night Only: An All-Star Comedy Tribute to Don Rickles”

This just in! Spike TV has gathered an all-star collection of comedians to pay tribute to the guy who insulted them all, and did so with love, 87-year-old Don Rickles.

One Night Only: An All-Star Comedy Tribute to Don Rickles will feature David Letterman, Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Stewart, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, Tracy Morgan, Jimmy Kimmel, John Stamos, Bob Newhart, Regis Philbin, Ray Romano, Brad Garrett and many more. It’ll tape May 6 at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, and air as a 90-minute special on Spike on May 28.

“We’re thrilled that David Letterman, Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Stewart, Robert De Niro and so many more will be coming out to entertain and celebrate our hero – Don Rickles,” said Casey Patterson, Executive Producer and Executive Vice President, Event Production & Talent Development, Viacom Entertainment Group. “The genius of Rickles is in the danger, nobody is safe, and what you can expect is a night of comedy from these superstars worthy of a legend. It truly will be One Night Only.”

“One Night Only: An All-Star Comedy Tribute to Don Rickles” will include stand-up performances; short films; pre-taped tributes and personal stories as told by Rickles’ closest friends, co-stars and comedians he has influenced. The evening will culminate with Rickles getting the chance to address his friends and colleagues in attendance in his own words and his own inimitable style.

This isn’t the first time Rickles has been roasted and toasted by his famous friends. Here he is taking the dais back from Johnny Carson back in the day at The Friars Club Roast of Don Rickles. Roll it!

The Friars Club just last year feted Rickles once more, this time with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Here’s a clip of Rickles talking about Anthony Quinn, from the documentary on Rickles, Mr. Warmth:

Spike TV’s “One Night Only” celebrated Eddie Murphy in 2012.

Don Mischer, Casey Patterson, Charlie Haykel, serve as Executive Producers for “One Night Only: An All-Star Comedy Tribute to Don Rickles” with Juliane Hare as Producer. Tim Bruno will serve as EIC for the network. Vernon Lynch will serve as a consultant.

  1. I sure hope that this will be a great opportunity for everyone to see some of “Don’s Scenes” from his productions of his classic hits “Tales From Kutcharitaville”. You know that Rickles and Johnny Carson together produced those comedy hits about their friend “Mr. Kutchie Pelaez” and their wild and crazy exploits of Kutchie’s Key West and The World of Key Lime Pies from the perspective of (Johnny Carson, Don Rickles, Kutchie Pelaez and Steve Martins Eyes!) What a Hoot Those Classic Hits Surely Were. Don’t miss them, be sure to tune-in next month. We Laughed Until We Cried Watching Those Funny Movies. “The Tales From Kutcharitaville”, I Think That They May Still Be Available In A Boxed Set.

  2. IS THERE SOMEWHERE I CAN PURCHASE THE DVD “ONE NIGHT ONLY-ALL STAR ROAST” THAT WAS ON SPIKE? IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THE DVD AND CANNOT FIND IT ANYWHERE, I DONT KNOW IF IT WAS EVER MADE FOR PURCHASE??
