Of all the awesome and great things about Adult Swim’s late-night spoofery Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! (2007-2010), perhaps the sketches that inspired the most awe came when Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim ceded the spotlight to Dr. Steve Brule, the oafish expert of nothing, curious about everything who had his own public-access show/segment on “Ch5 News” called “Check It Out!” Brule, as played by John C. Bill Watterson draws up his first pubilc cartoon since Calvin and Hobbes: The poster for “Stripped,” a new documentary about newspaper comic strips

Would you look at that?! It’s the movie poster for Stripped, a new documentary about the history of newspaper comic strips and what happens to them now that newspapers are dying. And perhaps just as symbolically important — the poster image is the first public cartoon drawn up by Bill Watterson since he retired as the creator of “Calvin and Hobbes” in 1995. R.I.P. Tim Wilson (1961-2014)

Tim Wilson, a veteran “Road Dog” stand-up comedian and country musician who also co-wrote Jeff Foxworthy’s hit song, “Redneck 12 Days of Christmas,” died Wednesday from an apparent heart attack. Wilson was 52. Wilson was scheduled to headline The Comedy Club Stardome near Birmingham, Ala., this Friday and Saturday night. Club owner Bruce Ayers announced the sad news early Thursday morning on the Stardome’s Facebook page, writing: “I am very sorry to report that my dear friend Tim Wilson passed away this evening.
